I thought I would begin by sharing a bit about myself and how I came to be a therapist. I decided to train as a therapist as I felt like the only person in the world that didn’t enjoy pregnancy or breast feeding. I questioned my decision to become a parent because I felt so overwhelmed and that I wasn’t doing anything ‘right’. Years later, I talked to friends and found that many felt the same but were too ashamed or scared to admit it. That’s why I believe in the importance of seeking support and removing the shame and guilt from ourselves as parents. There are evidence-based therapies that can help you to feel better and enjoy your experience of parenthood more.
My own experience of struggling postnatally and with parenthood has, I believe, given me a unique perspective and deep understanding of what parents go through. I am also the mother of a neurodivergent child and have lived the journey through diagnosis and beyond which gives me empathy and understanding of the stress this can cause parents trying to manage the many demands and keeping up with an ever changing emotional landscape.
Outside of parenting and work, I'm into meditation, CrossFit, and spending time outdoors in the beautiful East Lothian countryside where I live with my husband, son and cat, Thomas. When I’m not out and about you’ll find me cozying up in front of the TV (I'm a reality TV lover - don't judge) with a cup of tea or glass of wine depending on the time of day and catching up with friends.
Get in touch to book a free consultation, I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your parenting journey.
I’ve been working in the field of mental health since 2018 as a mental health support worker and perinatal befriender and accredited with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am passionate about supporting parents in their transition through parenthood and love to see people learn the skills and strategies to take charge of their own mental health.
Accreditation demonstrates a therapist's personal commitment to meeting the high standards set by The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society in the following areas - governance, setting standards, education and training, managing the register, providing information, and complaints.
NCPS accreditation allows me to offer the highest quality, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with commitment to providing effective therapeutic interventions.
